This year, the boys and girls in 3rd and 4th Primary were able to join two celebrations in one – heart-shaped pancakes were the perfect combination to celebrate Pancake Day and St Valentine’s Day.

First of all, they found out why people started making pancakes on this day – traditionally to use up food before the Christian celebration of Lent – then the next step was, of course, to find out how to make them themselves! Once they had all this information, they were ready to start cooking! They measured out the ingredients, mixed everything in a bowl, then shaped the pancakes into hearts, adding a filling of their choice.
