
A FORMER PUPIL OF JUAN DE LANUZA, WINNER OF THE 2020 NOAA DAVID JOHNSON AWARD
We want to share with all of you our pride in receiving this news. Alejandro Egido, an ex-student of Juan de Lanuza, has been awarded the NOAA David Johnson 2020 Award by the National Space Club and Foundation.
Dr. Egido, Alejandro to us, is an employee of Global Science & Technology Inc. and serves as the engineer for the Jason measurement system at the NOAA laboratory for satellite altimetry, NESDIS Center for satellite applications and research, NOAA Center for climate and climate prediction.
He is recognized for developing and demonstrating a new analytical technique, fully focused synthetic aperture radar altimetry, which dramatically improves the resolution along the track of a new generation of high-speed satellite radar altimeters.
Egido’s achievements pave the way for new applications in operational ice thickness monitoring, inland water level measurement and marine weather forecasting. The National Space Club is honored to recognize Dr. Egido for his outstanding achievements.
