Learning from Nature: A Week in Canfranc
Students from Juan de Lanuza School enjoyed a truly enriching week in Canfranc, combining outdoor learning, personal growth, and teamwork in one of the most beautiful corners of the Aragonese Pyrenees.
Throughout the week, they explored the natural environment, learning that the landscape was shaped years ago to prevent snow and water landslides. Along the way, they identified native plants and animals, recording their discoveries in personalized field journals.
They attended engaging workshops at the Sargantana classroom, where Unai introduced them to the local wildlife —from insects to birds of prey— and even shared real specimens and drawings to bring science to life.
Creativity also took center stage through nature-based art projects like stone painting and mandalas, while daily tasks such as setting the table and tidying rooms helped develop responsibility and autonomy.
The week ended on a high note with evening games, storytelling, and a play created by the students about caring for the environment.
An unforgettable experience that captures the essence of Juan de Lanuza’s human and holistic education: learning by doing, connecting through nature, and growing together.
