THE MAYOR OF ZARAGOZA RETURNS TO HIS SCHOOL, JUAN DE LANUZA.
Today, the Mayor of Zaragoza, Jorge Azcón, visited his former school Juan de Lanuza.
Jorge Azcón was a student at Juan de Lanuza, which makes his presence so special both for us and for him.
He first took a tour of the school’s facilities and then gave a speech to a group of pupils. The Mayor highlighted the aspects of the school that most defined his education, and which have been of great help to him in his adult life and as a renowned politician. All of them are the fundamental pillars of the school even today:
- teamwork
- critical thinking
- oral communication, knowing how to communicate in public
- languages
- the Christmas performances, as authentic theatre plays.
Azcón has recognised himself as the best prescriber of the Juan de Lanuza School, its biggest fan, he spoke with great emotion and pride to have belonged to it. A very special moment was when he gave some valuable advice to the students : “To have leadership skills you have to be a good person above all”, “it is not only important to be intelligent, but also to be hard-working”, “it is essential to have a plan to achieve your objectives and to stick to it”, “you will always remember the teachers who have loved and helped you the most”.
Pilar Fernández, the Principal of Juan de Lanuza, gave him a pleasant surprise that touched him very much, with a presentation of photos showing Jorge Azcón back in those days, in which he looked really happy at school with his classmates.
At the end of his speech, the Mayor listened with interest to the explanations given by the students about the projects they are developing this year, and answered all the questions they asked him.
It has been an emotional and very special day for us, because we are proud to have such an distinguished ex-pupil like him.
Thank you, Jorge!
