CWMUN Barcelona 2019

Volvimos a Zaragoza tras haber participado en el Change the World Model United Nations 2019 Barcelona.

Tres intensas jornadas en las que Daniel Esteban, Juan Murillo, Leire Flamarique, Mario Stan, Miguel Ángel Sisamón y Nacho Tolosana dieron lo mejor de sí mismos para representar a su colegio y a diversas naciones en los acalorados debates que tuvieron lugar en las distintas asambleas que simulan el trabajo diplomático de las Naciones Unidas. Su trabajo se centró en varios temas: la lucha contra el tráfico de seres humanos en el área mediterránea, la situación política de Kosovo y la reconstrucción de los territorios liberados de Siria.

Durante estos días los alumnos pudieron mejorar su seguridad a la hora de hablar en público y tuvieron que exprimir sus habilidades sociales y diplomáticas para tratar de alcanzar acuerdos con otros países. Uno de los principales retos fue, en algunas ocasiones, tener que dejar de lado sus propias convicciones ideológicas para interpretar el papel que les había tocado, que era nada más y nada menos que defender los intereses de una nación, en algún caso, totalmente desconocida para ellos hasta ese momento.

También resultó una estupenda oportunidad para hacer amigos venidos de distintos puntos de la geografía nacional e internacional. Y, tras el duro trabajo de la jornada, disfrutaron de una fiesta para relajar las tensiones propias de su labor como diplomatici.

Quiero hacer especial mención a la contribución de Miguel Ángel Sisamón por su intervención en la primera de las jornadas y que, sin duda, aportó más brillo al acto de inauguración. Aquí abajo os dejo sus palabras:

“Fellow delegates, ladies, gentlemen, distinguished guests. For the third consecutive year, Barcelona hosts an international Model United Nations and I am certain that 100% of participants present here today are proud to be part of it. For this reason, I would firstly like to thank, on behalf of my colleagues, members of the organization and other staff for making this conference possible especially Saint Peter’s school for welcoming us with open arms. I feel privileged to be able to represent my school, Juan de Lanuza from Zaragoza. We have come here with one aim, to defend the values the United Nations represent in different countries from around the globe. We have come here to contribute to helping make a better world. A better world where wars would only be named in history books, or a world where gender inequality or racism would be non-existent, where immigration would only be a voluntary choice. In order to achieve this world, we have to fight against all sorts of discrimination and racial bias. The United Nations is doing unbelievable work to fight this difficult situation but we still have a long way to go. That way is ours. It belongs to the youth of today, we will have to be the ones solving the world’s problems and we will certainly have to be able to face new ones. Therefore we have to learn how to be creative and innovative, with the ability to connect. It surely is not as easy as it sounds but in order for democracies not to wobble and to fight for unprejudiced human rights each of us has to give our best. I hope all of you to have a wonderful, productive weekend full of motivation and remember your best preparation for tomorrow is doing your best today.”

Sin duda, la participación en el CWMUN 2019 fue una experiencia enriquecedora en todos los aspectos.
